Another email IRS impersonation scam campaign is spreading across the nation. This new email phishing scam utilizes compromised websites and web addresses constructed to resemble IRS.gov. By infecting websites with malware, hackers might be able to gain control over your computer or covertly download software that tracks keystrokes, eventually divulging passwords to sensitive accounts, such bank account logins.
The IRS does not send emails about your tax refund or sensitive financial information, this latest scheme is yet another reminder that tax scams are a year-round business for thieves. We urge you to be on guard at all times.
